Garry Monk offers injury update on Morgan Fox, Kieran Lee and Massimo Luongo ahead of derby clash at Barnsley
Sheffield Wednesday player of the month Morgan Fox has a ‘50/50’ chance of making a return to the side in this weekend’s derby clash at Barnsley, with Massimo Luongo rated the same.
The left-back, who has been talked about in glowing terms by Owls boss Garry Monk in recent weeks, missed out on the 0-0 draw with Millwall on Saturday having hobbled off in their nightmare 2-1 defeat at Wigan.
Luongo has been suffering with a tight groin and hasn’t played since he was sent off in the 5-0 home defeat against Blackburn.
On Fox, Monk said: “He’s very, very close. He’s been out on the pitches today and seems alright so we’ll make a decision on that tomorrow.

“Massimo is back out on the grass, we’re not sure about this weekend, he’s 50/50, the same as Morgan. We’ve got another training tomorrow [Friday], so we’ll see if they’re available.”
The Owls boss sees the defender’s return as a major boost. Asked about his contribution, Monk said:
“I’ve spoken about this before with Morgan, but his attitude and the way he’s gone about things this season, the biggest credit goes to him.
“You can the player the opportunity and courage to go out there and do it but that’s up to the player. He’s got a fantastic mentality and attitude.”
There is a boost in the form of the return of Kieran Lee, whose shoulder was injured in the clash at Leeds a month ago.
