The Australian, who has been struggling with a groin injury since his their 5-0 home defeat to Blackburn, will remain on the sidelines with the club hopeful he will be back in contention next week.

Speaking at a pre-Millwall press conference in which he repeated choice words about their recent form, Monk confirmed that Liam Palmer is available after a length lay-off with an ankle injury.

The full-back suffered the injury in a rash New Year’s Day challenge by Cardiff’s Junior Hoilett and has missed the Owls’ last six matches in all competitions.

“He’s back available, he’s been training now all week and is up for selection,” Monk said.

There were concerns over the fitness of left-back Morgan Fox after he limped out of their 2-1 defeat at Wigan on Tuesday.

Monk said he will do all he can to select the 26-year-old and offered an update on Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson: “He’s sore, but he’s out on the pitches.

“I have decisions to make, he’s no 100 per cent, but like I said after the game, he’s a warrior. That’s the sort of attitude and spirit I want.

“The only way that he won’t be on that pitch is if he’s properly injured.

“Kieran has just come back in in the last couple of days and is available and Hutch is fit.”
