Joe Wildsmith makes his first appearance of the season between the sticks – his first since August 2018 – with Cameron Dawson dropping out for the first time since November.

The move sees the Owls line-up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Dominic Iorfa reinstated into the starting line-up after coming off the bench to good effect in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Derby County. He comes in for club captain Tom Lees, who was substituted at half-time in that Derby defeat.

Alessio Da Cruz comes back in to a front three with Fernando Forestieri and in-form Jacob Murphy. Barry Bannan will hope to orchestrate the midfield with Joey Pelupessy and Kieran Lee providing back up.

The Owls are likely to a 4-5-1 formation without the ball, with a Manchester City side including the likes of Sergio Aguero, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus expected to have much of the ball at Hillsborough.

Both Monk and captain for the night Barry Bannan spoke of the need to take City ‘out of their comfort zone’ this evening.
