Wednesday have had a relatively busy window so far, bringing in the like of Izzy Brown and Elias Kachunga among others, but it certainly appears that they are not done yet – and there could even possibly be a new signing for this weekend’s encounter with Bristol City.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat against Fulham in the Carabao Cup, the Owls boss said, “There’s still nothing imminent… We are working, we are speaking to players, trying to get closer to what we need.”

And when asked if there was any chance of a new face for the Bristol game, Monk replied, "I’m hopeful, but the thing is it is not just about what we want. A lot of things that go into it. We could have all our side sorted, but it’s not just that, it’s other clubs and players.

"I’d like to, but whether it happens or not we will have to wait and see."
