From sunny Morecambe to picturesque Cheltenham - five away ends Sheffield Wednesday fans could pack out in League One

Sheffield Wednesday fans should soon be back supporting their beloved Owls in huge numbers once again.

The Owls will be one of the most-followed clubs in League One.

And with the club competing in League One for the first time in a decade, there will be plenty of new away days for fans to enjoy – and hopefully plenty of wins along the way.

With all remaining coronavirus restrictions set to be eased on 19 July, supporters should be able to return to football stadiums by the time the season kicks off on Saturday, 7 August.

The sun should be shining when the Owls travel to newly promoted Morecambe on 28 August. The Mazuma stadium can hold more than 1,300 away fans - about 900 shy of the Shrims' average attendance when fans were last allowed into stadiums.

Away supporters will be allowed back as well to help generate those unforgettable atmospheres we’ve all missed.

With that in mind, we’ve picked out five away trips next season – including one on the coast – where Sheffield Wednesday fans could pack out the visitors’ stand and cheer their team on.

Let’s hope it’s a year to remember for the right reasons.

The Wham Stadium is the smallest in League One and houses up to 1,800 visiting supporters. Remember to bring your winter gear though - the Owls visit on 20 November and the away terrace is uncovered!
The Owls visit Whaddon Road on 30 October. Around 1,100 fans can be housed in the away end.
Gresty Road boasts one large stand but the rest of the ground is much smaller. Up to 1,600 Owls fans will have a side-on view of the action, rather than being behind the goal. It's a bit of a squeeze in the away end, too. Wednesday visit on 11 December.
Fleetwood Town and Sheffield Wednesday have never met in a competitive fixture. They will go head to head for the first time on 22 February at Highbury Stadium, which accommodate around 800 away fans. Brace yourself, it could be another cold one.
