Former Milan and Atletico man enters list of potential Sheffield Wednesday contenders
Cosmin Contra is currently out of work after leaving Dinamo București late last year, and reports have stated that he could well be in contention for the job at Sheffield Wednesday.
Contra, who enjoyed a playing career that saw him spend time with the likes of AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Getafe, spent a couple of years in charge of the Romanian national team recently before returning to București for a short stint.
Now, with Wednesday yet to appoint Tony Pulis’ successor more than a month after he was fired, Sky Sports report that the 45-year-old has ‘been sounded out’ amongst several other potential candidates.
Neil Thompson has now been in charge of eight competitive fixtures since taking up the mantle from Pulis, losing just two as he played a big part in helping turn around the club’s fortunes in the Championship.
Plenty’s been said about who could come in as the new Wednesday manager as the Owls remain locked in a relegation scrap, but there have been calls for ‘Thommo’ to get the gig until the end of the season following his impressive spell as interim.
