The Star reported earlier today that the Owls were considering a move for the 34-year-old full back, and it has now been led to believe that they’re actually taking a closer look at him at present.

It’s thought that the Manchester United academy graduate played an hour as the Owls’ U23s faced off against Coventry City on Monday, with Moore present for the 3-1 defeat as he seemingly sought to take a look at the free agent.

Simpson left Huddersfield Town at the end of the 2019/20 campaign and is available to sign with immediate effect given his status as a free agent, something that could be tempting for Wednesday should they seek some experience for the relegation run-in.

A number of senior players took part in the loss against Coventry at Middlewood Road, with Izzy Brown scoring SWFC’s only goal of the game as Lee Bullen and his side were left disappointed.

It remains to be seen whether anything more will come from Simpson’s time with Wednesday, however he’s no stranger to the U23 setup having spent some time playing for Leicester’s youth side recently in an attempt to keep his fitness levels up.

The Star will keep an eye on the situation as it progresses, with Moore likely to be asked about the situation on Wednesday night following their must-win encounter with Simpson’s former club, Huddersfield.
