Phillip Cocu's side go into tomorrow’s clash winless in four and have only picked up eight points away from Pride Park since their opening day win at Huddersfield Town.

Their travel sickness continued on Tuesday night when they slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium to leave them in 15th place, eight points ahead of the relegation places and a distant 11 points behind the play-off spots.

But Lawrence, a former Manchester United youngster, says Derby have not played too badly in games they have lost and believes they would be battling for a play-off berth if their home form was replicated on their travels.

“I thought we played well against Fulham (in the 1-1 draw at Pride Park last week). I thought we deserved to win the game but that's the way it's going for us at the minute,” said the 26-year-old Welshman, ahead of the game at S6.

"We're putting some good performances in but not getting the results we want. I think that is showing in the table

"On Tuesday (against QPR), that was a disappointing night again so really need to bounce back on Saturday.”

The ex-Leicester City and Ipswich Town man has been in good form recently and scored the winner in the 3-2 win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium earlier this month – the Rams’ first away success since the Huddersfield win.

And he believes he and his teammates will have to put in a ‘top performance’ to get a result at Hillsborough.

“We know what we are doing wrong but just can't seem to put it right but we're going to have to change that," he said.

"It's a good dressing room, we’re just literally not getting the results we need to be where we want to be. It's been a tough (season) so far.

"It won't be easy on Saturday. It's another away game and we need to put in a really top performance and we need to grind out a result one way or the other.”
