The Owls enter the holiday fortnight – which begins when Coventry City come to Hillsborough on Saturday – bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, winless in eight games having lost their last four and seven points adrift of safety.

Throw in the fact that manager Tony Pulis has yet to win a game in the S6 hotseat since taking over from Garry Monk in mid-November, and you can see why most Wednesdayites will approach the busy Christmas period with a sense of trepidation.
