His time at Hillsborough has had it all - stunning goals, glorious performances, red cards, heartbreaking injury and more than a hint of controversy.

However, having been there right through Forestieri’s time with the Owls, you’d think that nothing would really make Tom Lees sit up and take notice, regarding his team mate.

You’d be wrong. Six games, Forestieri has played since returning to the side in late March, after recovering from a knee operation.

In that time he’s already scored four goals, two of them superb, including Saturday’s incredible strike against Reading at Hillsborough.

And Lees has admitted that even he has been taken aback by the impressive manner in which Forestieri has made his Owls comeback.

“You can be playing well, keeping the ball, moving the ball, being organised but you need these players that can do something different, out of nowhere to get you a goal, and win you the game.

“I wasn’t expecting him to come back from such a long lay off, so quickly back up to the level he left us with.

“Fair play to him, he’s come back straight away and been on fire.”

Forestieri gets the chance to really show his worth this weekend when he and the Owls take on Wolves in the champions’ title-winning party at Molineux.
