Ex-Sheffield Wednesday star backed for England call-up, West Ham United target set to cost £30m

Sheffield Wednesday's roller-coaster season took another lurch downwards last night, when the first game of the Darren Moore era against fellow relegation battlers Rotherham United ended in disaster, as the Millers scored a late, late winner to make it 2-1 in the seventh minute of added time.

Speaking after the game, the Owls' new manager claimed: “You’ve seen the chances tonight, you’ve seen the control of the game tonight.

“We didn’t get the goals we deserved. For the players it’s important they keep the focus and keep going. We need to keep working on that to turn things around.

“We created enough chances to score more goals. That’s the way I want us to play football, on the front foot, to try to create chances and the players did that tonight. It was just the final contact in the opposition box.”

Next up, the Owls are back in action this weekend, when they take on Reading - a side they drew 1-1 with back in December - at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon
