West Ham manager David Moyes has argued that former Sheffield Wednesday forward Michail Antonio is still good enough to force his way into the England squad.

The 30-year-old has been called up for the Three Lions twice but is yet to make his debut, and recent reports suggested that he was considering the possibility of swapping his international allegiance to Jamaica to give himself a chance of playing at the 2022 World Cup.

But his current boss is convinced that the attacker, who spent two years at Hillsborough, has what it takes to play his way into Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Speaking on Friday, Moyes addressed the speculation surrounding Antonio’s international future.

He said: "I only found out about it yesterday and I've not had a direct conversation with Michail.

"I am still holding out he has a chance to get picked for England. I wouldn't say no to Jamaica."

Antonio scored his seventh goal of the Premier League season against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
