The saga, which has now dragged on for several months, looked to be approaching a climax recently when it was reported that the hearing had gotten underway, but the Owls still don’t know where they stand as they consider the possibility of being hit by a points deduction.

When asked today about the talk of a positive outcome for the Owls, Monk joked, “I haven’t heard anything. What’s that? What positive? What have you heard? Maybe you can tell me…”

But he went on to add, “I’m not here to deal with rumours and speculation, I’ll just deal with concrete, whenever that comes. I haven’t been told anything by the club, when that comes we’ll deal with it. We’re just trying to focus on the football.

“I read things like you read things… I’ve spoken to the club, the know when that will be or when it’s likely to be, but I’ve heard nothing. Of course we’re all aware of it, and when it comes, that’s when I’ll deal with it.”

The Owls lost 2-1 to Swansea City on Sunday in a second consecutive defeat, and now turn their attentions to Preston North End.
