EFL to meet this morning over Coronavirus with Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest match under threat

The English Football League have announced that the authority’s board is to meet this morning to make a decision on this weekend’s fixtures as the coronavirus threat deepens.

Government advice yesterday stated that mass gatherings, including sporting events should continue to go ahead, however last night ot was revealed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea player Callum Hudson-Odoi had both tested positive for Covid-19.

Arsenal’s match against Brighton was immediately postponed and the Premier League stated that they would convene to discuss upcoming fixtures.

The EFL have followed suit and this morning released a statement.

An EFL Spokesman said: “The EFL Board will meet this morning to make a decision on this weekend’s fixtures and beyond.”

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis revealed earlier this week that he had tested positive for the virus.
