EFL charge: it’s a disgrace that Sheffield Wednesday still don’t know their fate...

Last week Garry Monk’s team went mathematically clear of the Championship dropzone. They’re now 15th – 11 points clear with six points to play for, but still face relegation if they’re hit with a points deduction for the matter surrounding the sale of Hillsborough.
Almost a month after The Telegraph reported that proceedings were getting underway, six games – and seven points – later, SWFC don’t know if they’ve enough points to stay up, how many they might need to stay up, or even if they have a chance of staying up depending on the punishment.
It’s all a bit mad now, isn’t it…

He also said a week ago, “From a logic point of view it makes no sense that it's gone on this long. It's not a good situation for anyone to be in - it's frustrating but the club are dealing with it."
And I think the most frustrating thing, especially from a fan perspective, is the complete radio silence. There’s been no update on anything, really.
The silence has led to rumours, conspiracy theories, and clutching of straws. Now, with two games to go, nobody knows if Wednesday are guilty or innocent. And if guilty, whether a points deduction – or something else – will come this season or next. How can anybody even begin to plan? Short-term or long-term.

And the sooner the better.
