It was a crazy evening at Hillsborough on Monday as Darren Moore’s bottom-of-the-table Owls put Cardiff to the sword with a remarkable 5-0 display that featured a couple of Goal of the Season contenders, a Barry Bannan masterclass and a list of positives as long as your arm.

It could mean nothing, of course, if Wednesday don’t build on it and fight their way out of the relegation zone – starting against Queens Park Rangers this weekend – but it certainly showed some shoots of progress as Moore and his technical team start to reap the benefits of their work so far.

And it wasn’t just Wednesdayites that lavished the team in praise, with plenty of pundits waxing lyrical about the performance in the hours and days that followed – and now they’re receiving accolades from elsewhere.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that Tom Lees, Julian Börner, Bannan and Callum Paterson had all been named in the official Championship Team of the Week, managed by Moore – who actually wasn’t there at Hillsborough after testing positive for COVID-19.

And on top of that, both Paterson and Lees were named in the English Football League Team of the Week for their performances at the two ends of the field for the Owls – making it into the best XI of the entire EFL pyramid for the latest gameweek.

Meanwhile, heading over to the digital sphere, Wednesdayites who play FIFA Ultimate Team finally have a usable Owl that they can put into their team on FIFA 21, with Adam Reach being named in the latest Team of the Week and earning an 82-rated FUT card at left wingback.

There was a Team of the Week card for the Wednesday man back in February, but it was only 74-rated (two higher than his normal card) and was substantially weaker than his recent upgrade.

The 82-rated Reach is now the strongest Wednesday card in Ultimate Team, and no doubt many fans will have already moved quickly to snap him up.
