In-form Wednesday striker, Michael Smith, is a lifelong Newcastle fan that grew up supporting Alan Shearer and Co. as a youngster and considers the England legend to be his sporting hero.
He spoke before of the perfect FA Cup draw for him being the Magpies away at St James Park, and he got half of his wish after the Owls were drawn against them in the third round – but on home soil instead of further north.
The 31-year-old has got four goals in his last two games and bagged a brace in the second round of the FA Cup, so it would be no shock at all to see him giving a starting berth in what would be a huge game for him personally.
"It would be massive,” he said at the prospect of getting a game against his boyhood club. “I have never managed to play them in a competitive game and for me personally, it would be huge.”
Darren Moore has spoken of his love of the FA Cup, of his desire to win every game, and with no midweek game in the days that follow their FA Cup clash – he may be tempted to go for it.
We took a look at who could be given the nod on Saturday night...
1. David Stockdale - Goalkeeper
When Stockdale was first choice in the league it was Cameron Dawson who was called upon in cup competitions, and now that it's 'Daws' starting in League One then it's likely that his goalkeeping counterpart could get the nod at Hillsborough in the FA Cup. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
2. Liam Palmer - RCB
With Barry Bannan injured, Palmer has taken on the captain's armband - and you'd think that they'd need his leadership against a Premier League opposition given how well he's performed over the course of this season so far. May also need to double up on Allan Saint-Maximin. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
3. Mark McGuinness - CB
There are still question marks over his Wednesday future given the recall clause in his loan deal, but he's cup-tied already so - whatever happens - it's unlikely anything would happen before this game. An absolutely vital player for the Owls, and they'll be desperate to keep him if they can. Photo: UGC / Steve Ellis
4. Reece James - LCB
The third cog in Wednesday's defensive machine that has proved so difficult to beat in recent weeks. Moore will be wary of splitting up such an impressive trio now that they're going up against top-flight opposition, especially with the experience that James possesses - and the form he's in. He may, however, be tempted to give Akin Famewo a start after he made his return from injury. Photo: UGC/Steve Ellis
