Wednesday will return to competitive action this weekend when they go up against Walsall in the Carabao Cup, and Iorfa is expected to be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Garry Monk as he looks to get the 2020/21 season off to a winning start.

Iorfa played 45 minutes and put in a solid showing against Leicester City over the weekend in a 0-0 draw against their Premier League opponents, and will have felt that he could also have gotten on the scoresheet after heading over a delightful ball in from Izzy Brown.

The 25-year-old reigning SWFC Player of the Year, is set to play a big role for Monk once again in the campaign ahead, and he seems to have liked what he’s seen from his teammates, too.

When asked if anyone had specifically impressed following their return for preseason last month, Iorfa told The Star, “To be fair, I have to say that everyone has come back in really good shape. If you were to compare all our scores in testing to when we came back from lockdown, everyone has smashed it, everyone has come back in better shape.

“Look, we were fit then, but now everyone is looking really, really good… Everyone has come back in good spirits.”

The Owls face Walsall on Saturday at 2.15pm in their first competitive fixture of the season.
