It is November after all, but there will be a particularly frosty feeling in the air when Sheffield Wednesday take on Birmingham City on Wednesday night.

Garry Monk used his pre-match press conference to lay into his opposite number Pep Clotet for his role in Monk’s demise at Birmingham City – Clotet was Monk’s number two at St Andrews.

Monk was scathing, saying: “Sadly, not everyone has those values in their character. Some choose to pursue their own opportunities in the worst possible way.

“But I think the most important thing for me is that you live and you learn. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t listen to a lot of people in football circles who warned me about the type of character he is.”

Amid the furore you could forget that there is a football match on, and it is one that Sheffield Wednesday could desperately do with winning, as late goals have cost them in their past three consecutive games.

Former Owl David Prutton has featured the Hillsborough match-up in his regular predictions column, and he is backing Wednesday to claim all three points this time out.

He has opted for a 1-0 scoreline, which would surely satisfy the home crowd.

Other results predicted by Prutton include a 1-1 draw between QPR and Nottingham Forest, a 2-1 win for West Brom against Bristol City and a 2-0 win for Blackburn Rovers at home to Brentford.
