Both sides go into this one in precarious positions, with only Wycombe Wanderers beneath the pair in the table.

Wednesday managed to beat the Chairboys last week, but were unable to build on that result against Stoke City on Tuesday evening, and suffered a 1-0 defeat.

Likewise, Birmingham were beaten 2-0 by Millwall in midweek, and are now winless in six Championship matches.

Looking ahead to this weekend’s clash, Prutton has predicted that the Owls will compound their misery too.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the pundit said: “This is a huge six-pointer near the bottom!

"Sheffield Wednesday started the season with a huge mountain to climb, but it looks better now even if they still have a lot of work to do.

“Birmingham are free-falling, and Aitor Karanka will find himself in a very tricky situation if Birmingham lose again.

"Wednesday are good at home, so I think they will.”

Prutton forecasts a 2-0 win for the Owls.

Wednesday beat the Blues when the two sides met at St. Andrews earlier this season, with Barry Bannan scoring a decisive penalty in a 1-0 win back in mid-October.

Prior to that result, however, the Owls had struggled against Saturday’s opponents in recent times.

Both games between the two clubs ended in draws last season, and you have to go back to February 2017 for the last time that Wednesday took all three points against Birmingham before this season’s victory.
