He’s a talented individual. We know him well here at the football club. He carries a threat but there are a few of those. They’re an exciting team that play some exciting football.

In this league, with us playing a couple of games a week, the pendulum can shift very quickly. It can pull people back in and the division is renowned as nip and tuck from top to bottom.

DM on whether relegation would be a disaster

In any club, if they are to go down, it’s not a good thing at any level. You won’t hear me speak of that, we have points to play for and we need highly committed performances form now to the end of the season.

DM on the job at hand

The challenge whets my appetite. It’s an impressive club and I’m going to try to lend my support and experience to move things forward.

They’re a good team. The table doesn’t lie and they play good football with exciting players. We know it will be a difficult game, a different one to the one we faced the other night.

It’s an exciting game. One that we’ll have to be very detailed in terms of the work off the ball and in possession.

Every game is horses for courses. Am I going to be set in stone between now and the end of the season? It would be wrong to say so. We have to neutralise those threats as well.

DM on fan calls for a ‘reset'

I think first things first, we’ve come in here and now to allow the group of players and squad to have that opportunity to play. It’s a clean slate going forward.

Every player has an opportunity to impress and continue their contract with the football club. Performances will determine that. Every single player has that opportunity.

DM on a fresh start

We’re not in the PL at this time. Obviously we’d love to get back into that position, but there’s work to be done to get there. Detailed work.

It starts on the training ground and getting that consistency. Short-term there’s a lot of wok to be done. We need a DNA in our play and structure.

First of all we need to keep ourselves in the Championship.

It’s a big challenge, but it’s a challenge that whets my appetite. It just does. I feel like we know what’s gone on. But myself and the players are committed to the games ahead of us.

It’s about setting a precedence now and moving forward.

DM on communication with players

It’s starting. Everything is still relatively early. We’ve had two games to contend with and I’ve spoken to the group, but there are individuals I’ve managed to get round to.

We want to get that work in for next week. The days have been full on as you can imagine. It’s all part and parcel of it and it’s been good to build those relationships with staff and players.

It’s not just strikers. I’m a firm believer that you score goals as a team and you concede as a team. Everybody has to share the load. Chances fell to people in different positions. I want to see the players sharing the load.

DM on squad assessment

I’ve still not completed the first week and it’s early doors.

The other night I saw a committed group, a group that was pressing forward to win a game and a group that looked to have enjoyed it, there were good signs.

We were disappointed in the result, but we more than doubled chances for the night.

If we keep playing on the front foot and creating chances, we have players in the squad that can score goals.

We have to build on it going forward.

Darren is here.. on injuries..

Everybody as far as we know ahead of training today is fine and well. Hopefully we’ll have no further issues and we’ll have a squad to pick from tomorrow.

Both Westwood and Green are getting closer but won’t be considered for this weekend. Maybe next week after we can assess them better.

Darren will be with us soon..

Here’s Joe with a little inside word from Middlewood Road..

Good morning, Wednesdayites!

How are we? OK.. sorry for asking.

The new man is speaking to the media again this morning and there’s plenty to discuss ahead of this weekend’s trip to high-flying Reading.
