Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has described Jordan Rhodes as the best finisher outside the Premier League after the striker’s hat-trick in their Carabao Cup victory at Wycombe Wanderers.
Rhodes, who is on loan at Carrow Road from Sheffield Wednesday, starred in the League Cup last night, hitting his first treble since March 2014 to help Norwich book their place in the last 16 of the competition.
The 28-year-old seized his opportunity to impress, with Teemu Pukki rested, as the Canaries claimed a 4-3 win at Adam Park.
Farke said: “I don’t know any striker who is a better finisher in the Championship, perhaps Teemu, but he was outstanding. He deserves that.
"I praised Jordan in the last couple of weeks and even if he didn’t score in this game I would still praise him. He has an unbelievable attitude. We felt this would be his type of game because we would be pretty close to the box of the opponent.
“In those situations he is outstanding, in terms of his finishing.
“It’s not a headache. I know whoever plays we will get good performances and with Dennis Srbeny in my opinion we have three good strikers. There will be periods when they struggle but I trust these lads."
Rhodes, who is set to remain on loan at Norwich until the end of the campaign, also had a fourth goal disallowed after he was adjudged to have fouled goalkeeper Ryan Allsop before slotting into the net.
Nonetheless, the Scotland international has notched five goals in 11 outings for the Canaries this season.
"I just try and do the best I can and work as hard I can for the team in whichever game I'm selected in," said Rhodes. "As striker, you would like to score a goal or two and I was fortunate enough to score and come off with the matchball.
"It's pleasing [to score] but it's more pleasing that we got the win and we're into the next round."
