In response to The Star’s new Facebook feature The Daily Debate, Wednesdayites mulled over the pros and cons of all three of the men battling for a spot between the sticks; current incumbent Dawson, long-time number one Keiren Westwood and up-and-comer Joe Wildsmith.

The comments suggest supporters are split when it comes to any notion of a recall for Westwood, who hasn’t featured since defeat at West Brom in November.

Shane Ives-Keeler said: “Westwood made a lot of mistake when he played this season. Dawson’s kicking is a liability. Wildsmith seems to not be in with a shout but give him a game and see?”

It wasn’t an opinion shared by Richard Hawley (not that one!) who said: “Westwood every time. Got the experience over Dawson. Dawson good prospect but needs more work but in future could be a quality keeper.”

Dawson recently signed a new four-year deal with the club having shown good form in the Owls goal and speaking after Saturday’s draw manager Garry Monk made clear he will stick by the 24-year-old, describing him as ‘a very good keeper’.
