COVID positives and injury blows – Swansea City waiting on key duo, Andre Ayew and Marc Guehi, ahead of Sheffield Wednesday clash

Cooper will have two players missing after they tested positive for COVID-19, and another two have been ruled out for Wednesday night, but Cooper is hopeful that top scorer, Andre Ayew, and talented defender, Marc Guehi, will be back in contention.

Ayew has got five goals in 11 games so far in 2019/20, while Guehi had played every minute of their campaign until he missed their 1-0 win over Rotherham United.

As quoted by the club’s official website, their manager said, “We’re hopeful over the lads who missed the game at the weekend… It is still a bit inconclusive, we’ve still got a couple of days but we’re working hard to get them ready.

“It’s too early to say yet, but we’re hopeful. We have a full day of rehab today and the physios are working hard as we also have players recovering from the game at the weekend.”

The club also confirmed that both Viktor Gyokeres and Jordon Garrick ‘will be absent again as they continue to self-isolate following positive tests for Covid-19’, while Morgan Gibbs-White (foot) and George Byers (groin) also remain out.

Swansea are currently fourth after 12 games in the Championship and have lost just four of their last 20 games at home in league as they set about making the Liberty Stadium a bit of a fortress for themselves.
