Wickham has really hit the ground running since the restart, scoring important goals against Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, while Jacob Murphy has also impressed since the turn of the year with his performances.
Speaking to the media today, the SWFC boss said that he’d like to bring both Wickham and Murphy, as well as Alessio Da Cruz and Josh Windass, back in for the 2020/21 campaign, especially given the fact that they wouldn’t need any time to settle.

Hide AdMonk told The Star earlier this morning, “I’ve been really pleased with all of them… With the profiles of those guys, if the opportunity is there then of course I would.
“There’s always an advantage with players that have worked with you, who have a good idea of what you’re doing.
“You gain time, instead of bringing in a player who needs to settle, you need to see how they work and get up to speed.
“It’s likely to be a short turnaround, so having players that you’ve worked with, who can hit the ground running - of course if the opportunity is there then we’d pursue that. That’s what I’d like to do, but those conversations will come a little bit further down the line.”

On Wickham specifically, who has been in fine form, Monk said, “Of course, if the opportunity was there, but we have to cross those bridges when we come to them.
‘Right now we’re just focusing on the games, they’re coming thick and fast.
“Obviously as a manager you’ve got one eye on the future, and I’m having those conversations with the club.
‘Even if it is a possibility, there’s factors that go into that. If we’re capable of doing that or not, so we’ll see going forward.”
