Josh Render, who has been with SWFC’s Academy since joining the U13s, has climbed up the ladder over the last few years, and the 19-year-old stepped into the U23s this season having shone during the U18s’ impressive 2018/19 run that saw them clinch the Professional Development North and National titles.
Now, with Wednesday looking to the future with a number of deals tabled to teenagers within the squad, it has been confirmed that the Hull-born shot-stopper has put pen to paper on a new contract at Hillsborough.

Render is among several young talents to have been offered extensions at Wednesday in recent weeks, with the likes of Declan Thompson, Luke Cox and Luke Jackson all thought to have been asked to stick around.
Render signed his first professional deal last year, and has good reason to be positive as a goalkeeper at Wednesday given the fact that both Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith have come through the academy in recent years, and he’ll be hoping to keep up his progress as he takes aim at senior debut in the not-so-distant future.
