In 15 months as Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk oversaw some of the most turbulent times in the history of the club.
In punching distance of the Championship’s automatic promotion spots after his first few months, what followed was a manic tumble both on and off the field which saw a mammoth points deduction and off the field chaos drift over the club.
Though it came before the mass exodus of players and huge squad transitions felt in the last two summers, Monk kicked off a changing room turnover in his time, with 13 players walking through a door with his name above it.
Of those 13 players only three remain at Hillsborough and only one still plays at the level at which they were signed – the Championship.
Featuring free agents, players to have hopped around the world since and one stationed out in the Malaysian leagues, let’s take a look at how they’re getting on.

9. Aden Flint
A final day addition of the elongated 'summer' transfer window of 2020 - another loanee - from Cardiff City, six-foot-plenty Flint was seen as the sort of player Wednesday had needed for some time. He appeared to be, but managed only four appearances before suffering a hamstring injury that required surgery. His loan was cut short, he returned to Cardiff and regained his place as a regular before signing for Stoke this season. Hasn't played a league minute since an early September 4-0 defeat to Watford. Signed on the same day as Windass, it's fair to say Kachunga made less of an impact, scoring once in 29 laboured appearances. Released in the summer of 2021 at the end of his only Owls campaign, he signed for Bolton Wanderers in League One and has built a rapport with Trotters fans, scoring six and assisting nine in 64 games. A Chelsea loanee who arrived to some excitement for the 20/21 season, Brown was a disappointment to Wednesday fans and failed to score in 21 games. He joined Preston North End but suffered a terrible injury in pre-season and amid his comeback effort, was released early by Ryan Lowe who publicly cited a lack of required standards. Aged 25 he remains a free agent and is on the lookout for his 11th club. Photo: George Wood
Another left-field addition, Argentine youngster Hidalgo joined Wednesday from Italian lower league side Triestina in January 2020. He spent most of his time with the under-23s but trained with the seniors. It was a difficult and short stint - and his 18-month deal was cut short with six months remaining, with the winger citing the death of Diego Maradona as a reason. Has since signed at Malaysian side Sri Pahang, where he has nine goals and 14 assists in 35 games. Photo: SWFC
