Wednesday haven’t enjoyed success in front of their home fans since December 22 when they defeated Bristol City 1-0 to move up to third place in the Sky Bet Championship.

Garry Monk’s side have also failed to find the back of the net at Hillsborough in 2020 during a wretched run which has seen the Owls slump to 12th place, 11 points shy of the play-off spots.

However, Saturday’s 3-3 draw on the road against the Blues could prove to be a turning point in Wednesday’s season and they will be looking to build on that spirited showing when they welcome Lee Bowyer’s side to S6 tomorrow night.

Charlton will arrive in South Yorkshire buoyed by a 3-1 win over Luton Town at the Valley on Saturday, a victory which maintained the Addicks’ five-point cushion between themselves in 18th place and the relegation trap door.

But Bowyer, the former Leeds United midfielder, believes his side will expect a difficult game at Hillsborough despite Wednesday’s recent woes at home.

"It’s going to be tough, Hillsborough is a tough place to go and play,” he said. “Now the most important thing is the preparation. We’ve got to turn up on Wednesday night and make sure we’re ready."

The Addicks have become something of a Jekyll and Hyde side of late, having won three and lost two of their last five games – but they did win their last match on their travels, defeating promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on February 11.

Wednesday won 3-1 at the Valley when the two sides met in November, with a brace from Steven Fletcher and an Atdhe Nuhiu effort securing victory for Monk’s side.
