Proud Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal hailed his ‘fantastic’ players following their goalless draw with high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion at Hillsborough.
Wednesday remain eighth in the Championship after stretching their unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions.
Carvalhal, who handed first-team recalls to Sam Hutchinson and Lucas Joao, said: “My players were absolutely fantastic. I’m very proud of them. We kept fighting to the end.
“I think the draw was a correct result both teams are strong and very similar.
“We tried to move some pieces and put Atdhe Nuhiu on in the second half.
“I have seen a lot of Brighton’s games and they are a strong team and well organised.
“We expected it would be a very tough, tactical game.
“They didn’t create too many chances.
“We want to win all the matches but we will face strong teams.
“It’s important not to lose to keep adding points all the time.
“We were the better team in the second half and went for the win.
“I’m happy with my players and now we look forward to Saturday.”
The Portuguese head coach said he is satisfied to have taken seven points from their last three league fixtures.
“I don’t want to kill expectations but I don’t want people to dream too much,” he said.
“I am being realistic all the time.
“Like the chairman, players and fans, I want to win every game but we are in a very hard competition and Brighton are one of the strongest sides.
“We are in a good way, winning games and playing good football.”
