The 31-year-old, who turned down a big money move to join the Owls a few years ago, has spent a long time on the sidelines recuperating after picking up a serious injury a year ago, and has now got himself back fit again.
It has been announced, however, that the centre back will be leaving the Bluebirds after six seasons in Wales – a decision that has led to more worry amongst the Wednesday fanbase that they may look to bring McGuinness back from his time in S6.

Morrison hasn’t played this season yet for Cardiff, however did make a handful of appearances for their U21s as part of his return to fitness.
Wednesdayites may remember that he was close to joining the Owls a few years ago while Neil Warnock was in charge of the Welsh outfit, however he decided that he wanted to stay and be part of things there instead.
"I thought he would go to Sheffield Wednesday, especially when they upped the price to £5 million or something like that," Warnock told Wales Online in 2018. “I said to him, you’ll get a lot more money than here, and a longer contract – I said I don’t want you to go but I can’t stop you going.

"That was at the start of the season and I think a lot of players would have gone, if I’m honest, chased the money… I didn’t recommend Sheffield Wednesday to him, being a Unitedite, but I didn’t stand in his way and I thought that was a crucial time.”
