Defender Dominic Iorfa returns from injury to take his place on the bench, with striker Jordan Rhodes – who was hauled off towards the end of Saturday’s drab draw with Stoke City after coming on as a half-time substitute – also named among the nine-man substitutes.

The Owls go into the game with the Royals – who have in-form ex-Wednesday man Lucas Joao in their line-up – four points adrift of safety in 23rd place.

Here’s how Wednesday fans on Twitter have reacted to tonight’s team news from S6.

@_hazzy A point probably isn't a bad result against a Reading team having a decent season, but reality is we need to start winning games, especially at home, or we're gonna get left behind! #swfc

@nattasswfc Fun fact, we’ve accumulated more points from our last six games than Reading #swfc

@Majortarantino Pulis going for consistency. I like it #swfc

@Daniel186710m What’s @izzyjaybrown got to do to get a game @swfc? Surely in a midfield three, we can afford for one of them to be attack-minded? Seven goals in 14 games speaks for itself!

@johnada75157425 If Monk put that defensive starting 11 out he would have got hammered on here #swfc

@MarcWilcox81 Gotta wonder just how bad Dunkley’s injury was at the time of signing him #swfc

@Chris_swfc Big Dom with a last minute winner please

@sreith31 Can anyone see where a goal might come from? Granted he’s inherited this disaster but is a real worry. Got to hope for a penalty but I suppose that means we get into other team’s box.

@Foxy1405 I do love the sight of Dom Iorfa even if it’s on the bench
