It was the old cliche - a game of two halves - as the Owls largely laboured to give away the lead in the first half before putting some fizz into their game after the break. The Owls wrestled the game well and truly into their favour, punishing the increasingly nervous hosts. They had a few wee storms to weather, but should be highly commended for a character-full turnaround effort.
Michael Smith belted the winner from distance, a thunderchuffer of a strike that stuck one in the eye of the home supporters that had booed him in a Portsmouth shirt all those years ago. It came after his knockdown provided the assist for Josh Windass’ leveller.
Here are our player ratings from a thrilling evening at Fratton Park.

1. James Beadle - 7
Made a very decent save from a free-kick after the half-hour and handled things nicely - there was plenty of aerial stuff to deal with and he more than coped. | UGC

2. Liam Palmer - 7
Back into the line-up and straight into things with an important hook away. Early shot was struck well but deflected over. Contributed in the build-up. Solid enough. | UGC

3. Di'Shon Bernard - 8
A couple of really important early interventions stopped Pompey gaining any momentum. Was shifted to the left of the three when Famewo was forced off and continued his fine form. | UGC

4. Akin Famewo - 7
Played in a lovely couple of balls over to Smith and was generally solid until he had to be substituted with a first-half thigh problem he felt immediately. A real shame - they'll hope he's not out for long. | Steve Ellis / UGC
