The 20-year-old was also left out of the squad that travelled to Bristol City over the past weekend, but The Star understands that he is now back in full training at Middlewood Road and is back in contention for a place in the 18-man squad to take on QPR in the Owls’ return to Hillsborough this coming weekend.

It remains to be seen, however, whether the promising Wednesday academy man will be named in Saturday’s squad or not, with Monk not able to select everybody, of course.

With Osaze Urhoghide getting some good minutes under his belt for the U23s and Chey Dunkley close to doing the same, Monk and his SWFC side are now just a short while away from having a completely clean bill of health, which bodes well for the manager in what will be a tough campaign.
