Owls manager Tony Pulis has brought the forward in for the suspended Josh Windass, who was sent-off in the 1-0 defeat to Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.

It’s Rhodes’ first start for Wednesday since September.

Elsewhere, young defender Osaze Urhoghide is back on the bench after a lengthy spell out with a knee injury – while fellow youngsters Alex Hunt, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Liam Shaw have also been named among the substitutes by Pulis – who is making a return to his native South Wales for the game against the fourth-placed Swans.

Here’s how Wednesdayites on Twitter have reacted to tonight’s team news.

@Jamesy_boy Good to see Penney back in the squad as well #swfc. Do like managers that don’t exclude players. It’s a sign of maturity.

@JackWLA I see an improvement and hopefully we can be solid again tonight as we was against Preston. Just one thing, let’s keep 11 men on the pitch!! #swfc

@RossStevens88 Please Jordan Rhodes take this opportunity #swfc

@Nowak91418365 Come on lad, show us how to put the ball in the net

@hirsty9 But please don’t play Rhodes up on his own, pointless. #swfc

@wiz1989 Really struggling to see where any goals are coming from here!! Hoping I’m wrong tonight

@rmctom380 It’s time for Jordan to step up and show he is a forward

@liamkay1986 Rhodes double hat-trick incoming

@AndyHeath1867 Think that shows the limitations of our team but I’d say that’s the best set up we can go with.

@Majortarantino Maybe Pulis will try to keep the same team as much as possible apart from enforced changes. Bit of consistency.
