The midfielder, who left the club last summer after six years at Hillsborough, takes his place in the starting XI little more than 48 hours after re-joining the Owls on a free transfer.

Hutchinson is one of six changes made by Neil Thompson as Wednesday return to league action for the first time since the New Year’s Day win over Derby County following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

As well as the returning former Chelsea man, the other alterations made to the team from Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Everton see Keiren Westwood, Tom Lees, Liam Palmer, Matt Penney and Josh Windass all return.

On the bench, Massimo Luongo has been included after being sidelined with a knee injury but once again there’s no Liam Shaw in the matchday squad having missed the cup tie on Merseyside with a shoulder problem.

Here’s what Wednesdayites on Twitter have made of the team to face the Sky Blues.

@Tony__SWFC Swap Palmer for Urhoghide, Börner for Brennan and Pelupessey with Brown and #swfc might have a glimmer of a chance.

@0191Owls Very happy with the line-up this evening. Probably the strongest side I’ve seen us play in a long time. Can’t wait to see Hutch in a Wednesday shirt again too!

@Lbriggs88 Good line up this. Just need a bit more spark in midfield and a decent striker and we've got a decent squad.

@Jamesy_boy Best line-up for months.

@BillyFensterFen Strong line-up and options on the bench to change it up. Happy with that. Big game for Penney, always thought it was harsh dropping him.

@WednesdayRetro Glad Penney got a start. Hope he gets a run to show what he can or can’t do.

@jack231997 The bench looks so much stronger now too, imagine the likes of Dunkley back and a couple of more signings
