The friendly run-out, Wednesday’s last one heading into next weekend’s Championship opener against Plymouth Argyle, served as the testimonial of long-time stalwart Liam Palmer, who donned the captain’s armband and offered an assured performance in the middle of midfield.
The Owls produced some bright moments, clever movement and sharp passing but failed to score against the newly-promoted Spanish side. There may well be concerns over the lack of an out-and-out number nine to date, but work is being done on that front and they were unlucky not to have scored.
On an encouraging afternoon in the Hillsborough sunshine, here are our ratings from S6.

5. Max Lowe - 7
Looks a real classy operator. Used the ball intelligently and he seems to be well up to speed with the movement required of him. | SWFC / UGC

6. Barry Bannan - 9
Very much at the centre of Wednesday's world in possession. One threaded through-ball to Musaba was the work of artistry. Made a belting block to deny Escudero at short range. His quick-thinking was evident throughout. A standout. | UGC / Steve Ellis

7. Liam Palmer - 10
The man of the day. A guard of honour delivered goose bumps aplenty and was well deserved. Played with a calm, pushing the ball about nicely. A couple of touches in close quarters allowed Wednesday to break. | UGC / Steve Ellis

8. Djeidi Gassama - 7
A little bundle of fun, cutting in and cutting about. Busy working from the right, he jinked his way into a couple of bright positions. His turn early in the second half left two Leganes players on the missing persons list. | UGC / Steve Ellis
