'Any decent manager won’t take the job' - Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Paul Cook's 'talks aren't ongoing' comments

However, during an interview on talkSPORT2’s EFL Show on Friday night the 53-year-old Liverpudlian confirmed that discussions had taken place between himself and the Owls but stressed those ‘talks aren’t ongoing’.
And he also said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone, but people have to realise now, we were touching before about modern day football, if you want to manage one of these good clubs you have to be allowed to manage. If you’re not going to be allowed to manage, then you’re an employee and not a manager.”
But Cook’s odds with Sky Bet have now drifted to 5/2, with recently-dismissed Watford coach Vladimir Ivic the new bookies’ favourite.
So, how have Wednesdayites reacted to Cook’s comments?
Let’s take a look at what they’re saying on Twitter.
@Littlewood1992 Any decent manager won’t take the job. Who wants to be told what team they have to play, be given players to work with that they never wanted. Club’s a joke.
@PeterBu1981 Absolute joke of an owner
@ChrisBramms Lot of people questioning Cook's credentials. Three promotions, experience finding lower league gems, can work on a modest budget. Sounds very similar to the guy across the city who, let's face it, has transformed them and, up until this season, has not put a foot wrong
@jonogarnett If Chansiri doesn't want a manager, as evident in comments by Paul Cook and Dan Cowley recently, then don't appoint one. And maybe stop listening to advisors who've recommended the last few.
@baggleyowl Chansiri's method is a bit like hiring Monty Don to landscape your garden, then buying all the plants and telling him where they should go.
@benridley10 So Cook basically gagging to manage Wednesday but doesn't want to work under Chansiri with no say on transfers! So many managers going to be put off by this!
@PeteDobo83 Hold on, why all the slating? He didn’t even apply for the job, so he’s not interested! Let’s get someone in who actually wants the job. He’s done very little at Championship level, done ok below . . . a foreign manager isn’t always bad!!
@_SierraONE Utterly fed up and about done. A decent opportunity with Cook and it clearly won’t happen as our controlling owner won’t let someone manage. The links with someone else has the advisors’ DNA all over it Basically they just want someone to pick the team. Had enough.
@AlanMaris Proving beyond doubt, the autocratic way #swfc has been ran for too long, isn’t about to change anytime soon. Whilst it’s Chansiri’s prerogative to continue down this road, the club’s woeful on and off field performance of recent seasons lay firmly with him. Fans’ concerns vindicated.
@OwlsMad_UK A sadly predictable outcome. We don’t deserve Paul Cook
