Josh Windass was given his marching orders just 17 minutes into the Owls match with Preston North End for a high, late challenge on Joseph Rafferty.

Incredibly, he is now the fourth Wednesday player to have been shown a red card in their 13 league matches after Joost van Aken against Luton, Tom Lees at Rotherham and Kadeem Harris at home to Bournemouth.

As it stands, Windass will miss the Owls’ next three matches at Swansea and at home to Stoke and Reading, though the club have the option of appealing the decision.

Josh Windass was sent off just 17 minutes into the Tony Pulis era at Sheffield Wednesday.

He had been playing as a lone striker after Pulis named his first Wednesday side, a 4-5-1 that featured the return of Keiren Westwood in goal.
