Former Sheffield United winger David Brooks was the star turn that day as the Blades took the derby spoils in a match that plunged the youngster into the public eye.

Serious injury curtailed that after an impressive start to life in the top flight and now his challenge is to get Bournemouth back there, with the Wales international hoping to aid that ambition by picking up three points against Wednesday tonight.

And Brooks – who still has a picture of himself in Sheffield United colours, taking on Jack Hunt from that derby in 2017 pinned to the top of his twitter profile – knows that had things been different, he could have been in for a fiery reception at Hillsborough.

“That game kind of skyrocketed my career really,” he told the Daily Echo.

“It will be nice to go back but I don’t really have a massive vengeance to go back, if you know what I mean! Hopefully we can get the points.

“I can imagine I would probably get a bit of stick for playing for Sheffield United but obviously there’s no fans there.
