There was a suggestion that his search could well focus on defenders, given injuries to Sam Hutchinson, Dominic Iorfa, Marvin Johnson and Lewis Gibson.
So who are the options that could be available to Wednesday? Taking out the likes of former Manchester City man Eliaquim Mangala who would surely represent something of an unrealistic option, we took a look at 10 potential additions.
From former Derby County captains to New Zealand internationals, there are a few solid candidates, should Moore press on with the search.
5. Winston Reid
A New Zealand international who played at the World Cup, Reid is younger than you might think at 33 and is another who would bring huge experience to the Wednesday squad. Played on loan at Brentford last season having played over 200 times for Premier League West Ham.

6. Gaetano Berardi
A modern icon at Leeds United, it would be an interesting one. Berardi is known as a full-throttle and committed defender and has experience of playing on the right of a back three. Played only twice last season as he returned from injury but based in Yorkshire could see Wednesday as a good local fit.
7. Neil Taylor
Once a youth product at Manchester City, Taylor made his name as a flying wing-back at Swansea City. Made the move to Aston Villa in 2017 and played a part in their squad until his release in the summer. At 32 Taylor has 43 caps for Wales and is left-footed.

8. Cuco Martina
A 32-year-old Curacao international, Martina played in the Premier League for Southampton and Everton and within the last few seasons has also spent time on loan at Stoke and Feyenoord. A battling right-footed defender, he hasn't played for some time and would represent a left-field option.
