Sheffield Wednesday’s squad rebuild has been ticking over nicely this summer but there is still work to do.
The Owls have brought in nine new signings as they aim to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt. They kick-off the League One season away at Leyton Orient on Saturday, August 15.
Barry Bannan has spoken openly about Wednesday’s ambitions for the upcoming campaign, stating that they want to win the title. If they are to achieve that, they will need more strength in depth, particularly out wide and up front.
A statement released on Friday by David Storch explained Wednesday’s transfer position, as agreed with the EFL, any player sales they receive cannot increase their budget to buy players but the funds can go towards wages. With that in mind, they will likely have to dip into the free agent market to strengthen their ranks.
Here, we look at some free agent attacking options who are still available...

5. Danny Ings
The experienced former England frontman, 34, had a stint at city rivals United last season. Ings had been expected to sign for Leicester City earlier this month but nothing has been confirmed, with some accounts claiming he failed a medical. He's had his injury niggles but his know-how should ensure he bags in League One.

6. Ashley Barnes
The Burnley legend is a free agent but is in talks about a possible player-coach role at Turf Moor. However, it has been suggested he might want to continue playing. He's 36 and been a nuisance to EFL defenders for many years. Still made a handful of appearances in the Premier League last term.

7. Nikola Jojic
The Serb, 22, was signed by Stoke City three years ago after 10 goals and 11 assists for Serbian Super League side FK Mladost Lučani. However, his time at Stoke did not work out, making just one appearance, and was loaned out abroad. The right winger is a bit of an unknown and could be a 'wildcard' signing. A good age, though, and Stoke clearly saw something in him to pay a fee for him. | Getty Images

8. Harry Cornick
Cornick, 31, is a free agent after leaving Bristol City, who paid a fee for him after a successful time at Luton Town, winning promotion from League Two and League One. He's never been a prolific forward but can be a handful on his day. Needs to get his career going again. Finished last season on loan at Stevenage. | Getty Images
