It’s pretty well recognised that they won’t be shopping in the same market they have in recent seasons and that much of their business will be based around frees and loans.
Let’s take a look at 10 of the realistic options available to them for absolutely zip.
5. Ryan Williams - Portsmouth
Another player who is considering his options having been offered terms by his current club, Aussie international Williams has impressed on the south coast having been at Wednesday's South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley and Rotherham. He has experience of League One and claimed five goals and four assists in the last campaign. Photo: Dan Istitene
6. Jordan Graham - Gillingham
A winger who spent his youth career at Aston Villa, Graham is 26 and bagged 12 goals and claimed six assists for Gillingham in League One last year. He has been offered a contract by the Gills but could well move on. Wednesday may see him as a better attacking threat than those that are departing. Photo: Justin Setterfield
7. Kyle Edwards - West Brom
Could be one more on the ambitious side, this. A former England youth international now aged 23, he has a reputation as a fiery attacking left-winger. He has Championship experience prior to West Brom's promotion but has barely featured this season. Would be a popular free agent, you feel. Photo: Clive Mason
8. Delapo Afolayan - West Ham United
A relative unknown, raw 23-year-old midfielder Afolayan has taken a route less travelled into professional football. He left Chelsea's academy to concentrate on his GCSEs and left pro football in Canada to undertake a degree at Loughborough University. From there he signed for non-league Solihull Moors, was signed by West Ham and impressed on loan at League Two Bolton last season. Photo: Charlotte Tattersall
