Vladimir Ivic is currently the clear favourite with the bookies at 1/2 with Paul Cook (5/2), Neil Thompson (14/1), Chris Coleman (11/1) and Roy Keane (14/1) also featuring in the field.
Mick McCarthy's name has also been touted around. The bookies are offering odds of 33/1 with Sun journalist Alan Nixon suggesting the former Sunderland boss ‘would take’ the job but is 'yet to be asked’.
Indeed, former midfielder Carlton Palmer says that he’d give back his salary to Dejphon Chansiri if he was appointed and didn’t get to the Premier League in two seasons.
He said: “Phone the chairman. Tell him I will take the job. Give me control of all playing matters and the funds he has allocated to previous managers. Give me two full seasons, if I don’t get promotion I pay all my salary back to him if I do he gives me double my salary.
“I would get big Ron or Howard Wilkinson in as technical director, Craig Shakespeare in as first team coach. Two seasons job done. Crowds back, passion back. Premier League. Ask the chairman if any manager would back himself and work for nothing if he fails.”
Meanwhile, a reported Owls target is set to leave the club on loan with League One outfit Hull City keen.

The report states that Neil Harris’ side asked the Premier League outfit if they would be prepared to cut-short the 21-year-old’s loan stint at the Stadium of Light before then sending him back on loan to Cardiff. But that approach has been rejected. (Daily Mail)
