Youngsters set right example

AROUND 120 youngsters from Wisewood, Thorncliffe and Brinsworth Whitehill junior schools will attend Sunday’s Sheffield derby as the region’s FA try to emphasise the importance of respect and good behaviour in a sport tarnished by racism, violence and abuse.

The youngsters will attend a Respect programme on the morning of the clash, which will be run by the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA, and will then be flag-bearers before kick-off.

An FA spokseman said: “The recent problems in the professional game have highlighted the need for the Respect message to be pushed at all levels.”

Locally, officials say the Respect initiative had led to a “positive increase in good behaviour”.
