The 23-year-old was brought into the Blades’ starting XI for their 1-0 win against Newcastle United on Tuesday night having put in a goal-scoring turn for Chris Wilder’s side in the FA Cup win over Bristol Rovers at the weekend.

The Scot has endured a number of false starts in his career, including an underwhelming move to RB Leipzig and a miserable stint with West Brom, but Murray is confident that he has the quality needed to be a success at Bramall Lane.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of the clash against Newcastle, the former Wolves goalkeeper said: “I’ve seen him for a long time. He burst on the scene at Nottingham Forest and you’re thinking, ‘Wow, what a talent’.

"He’s got a bit of a Gareth Bale build – that sort of height, that sort of runner, he can score goals.

"He got his move to Germany and it didn’t really happen for him, but I tell you what, when he came on against Bristol Rovers for Mousset, that’s what you want to look at – the character of your players.

"He came on and he had a real impact. He missed a really good chance, but then he scored, hit the post too. He’s got pace and power, and he can get them up the pitch.

"He’ll be looking to kickstart his career. He’s still a young man, he’s only 23. He’s played his way into this team.

"I’m an Oli Burke fan.”
