Henderson, who spent two seasons on loan at Bramall Lane before returning to Old Trafford over the summer, made his Premier League debut for the 20-time champions when they faced Southampton towards the end of last month before also featuring in their meeting with West Ham.
But the 23-year-old’s hopes of an extended run were dashed when de Gea, who remains Solskjaer’s first choice between the posts, was passed fit following a knee complaint. The Spaniard regained his place for the Champions League defeat by RB Leipzig and also took part in last weekend’s derby with Manchester City, which ended in stalemate.

But three of his five appearances for Manchester United so far have come in cup competitions, although he did make his England debut when the Republic of Ireland travelled to Wembley for a friendly in November, coming on for Burnley’s Nick Pope at half-time.
United will enter Thursday’s fixture at the bottom of the table and still searching for their first win of the new campaign, while Manchester United finished the latest round of matches in eighth.
