The United manager has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with any player in the current window, for fear of alerting rival clubs and seeing the asking price ramped up in an auction-style situation.

Last week's press conference saw Wilder sit in silence as a host of names were thrown at him by journalists.

And, speaking ahead of tomorrow's clash with West Ham, he admitted: "I'll give a little bit more away than I did last week!

"I said before that we can't get involved in an arm-wrestle with anyone.

"I've seen West Ham and a few clubs doing that over a player but we haven't got the ability to do that, and we wouldn't do it like that anyway.

"We have targets and positions we need to cover, and we've got a budget I'll try to maximise.

"If you come at me with names I will bat them off, Geoffrey Boycott-style.

"I get the January window is a big thing for the media and it's very interesting for everyone.

"I like watching it... but not fielding the questions!"
