Max Lowe says Sheffield United can take some inspiration from how Southampton bounced back from last season's 9-0 humiliation, as they look to plot their own course to survival in the Premier League.

Ralph Hasenhüttl's side were battered 9-0 by Leicester City last October, but recovered to finish the season in 11th place.

And they have continued their good form this campaign, sitting fifth ahead of Sunday's clash with the Blades.

And Lowe, who joined the Blades in the summer from Derby County, said: "Everyone looking at that game [the 9-0] was thinking the worse for them. It gives us extra fuel to say: Why can't we push up the table?

"They're doing really well, they've started well and have a lot of threats going forward.

"But we haven't gone into any game with the mindset thinking it'd be easy.

"We know if we play our way and be ruthless, taking our chances, then we'll be okay."
