United stayed bottom of the table after losing at home to West Ham on Sunday, placing extra importance on this weekend's trip to fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion.

But despite acknowleging that Chris Wilder's men have not found the target enough times so far, former Blackburn Rovers and Chelsea striker Sutton believes they'll "probably just about be alright".

"Simply not enough goals," said the pundit when asked about United on the BBC's Football Daily podcast.

"Four goals in nine games, that's tough. But they haven't been absolutely walloped.

"I suppose you could look at Chelsea and say they had a little bit of a going over and in first game of the season they were poor against Wolves.

"But look at the games against Liverpool and Manchester City, they lost by the odd goal. They have enough about them but you do need that cutting edge.

"I do think they'll start to pick up a victory or two. The worry is that when you're on a run like they're on, there's no doubt confidence will drop in the team and somehow, they need to get their first win under their belts anyhow.

"Then I do think they will kick on. Look at Burnley's victory [over Crystal Palace] - so important for them. You always feel with Burnley and Sheffield United that they have an organisation about them that means they'll probably just about be alright."
