Why Chris Kamara believes Sheffield United boss and former teammate Chris Wilder is a "fabulous man"

Wilder, the Blades fan and former player, has led the Blades to seventh in the Premier League after twice winning promotion since taking charge in 2016.

Under him, United mounted an unlikely charge for Europe this season - which was then halted, when the Premier League was suspended in a bid to control the spread of coronavirus.

But Kamara, who played with Wilder at Notts County and later signed him at Bradford City, believes nothing can take away from the job Wilder has done.

"You pick up stuff along the way as a manager and Chris will know that," Kamara told The Star.

"I'm pleased to have been a part of his career, albeit a small part. Some people have that knack of management, you look back to the man himself Dave Bassett, who managed us both at United.

"It's not particularly unusual to see what Chris has done - it's only so unusual under the circumstances, in a league like the Premier League.

"With how he's managed to do that, with the resources he has had available to him... it just goes to show what a fabulous man he is."

Kamara was at Bramall Lane between 1992 and 1994 and played under Bassett for the Blades in the Premier League. He also appeared for clubs including Leeds United and Brentford, before moving into television when he retired.
